As we continue to move through this COVID-19 situation, I’ve been increasingly focused on getting back to my original purpose in music. When we moved to Charlotte in 2010, I launched my music career and my goal was to share the love of Christ through music. I wrote Biblically centered songs and did a lot of worship music. I still write songs with Biblical undertones, but the types of shows we do now after we moved to Houston are mainly cover gigs. So I’m doing a lot of music from mainstream artists, which can be the total opposite of my original intent.
Now that we’ve canceled all of our gigs for the foreseeable future, I’ve been able to refocus. With the production of my upcoming album (which has been upcoming for years due to multiple issues) ‘Work in Progress,’ I’ve decided to take a step back into the direction of my first intent. Since all my original music is Biblically oriented, I decided to create some devotional content to go along with each song.
And that’s how the new series Song+Scripture has come about. This series catalogs the songs from my upcoming album, ‘Work in Progress’ as they align with scripture in a daily devotion format. I’m so excited to launch this series because it’s a way for me to share with you the meanings behind the songs and how they came about from a spiritual perspective. It will give you a much deeper meaning behind the song and my hope is to encourage and uplift you with an inspiring Biblical message.
