The Album Release Show Was...

Great.  Awesome.  Thrilling.  Full of Friends.  Glass-Raising.  Humbling.  These are the words I would use to describe my album release show earlier this month.  There are so many things to talk about, but I'll try to condense it into one article if I may. THE SHOW:  We started around 7:15 with Jay Ward warming the audience with his medley of poetry about confidence, life, and empowerment.  He even wrote a poem about Natural Hair!  Everyone loved him even to the point of asking me when he's performing next.  (Plug Alert!) Well I will tell you when:  at the next Artists in the Round Show happening Sat May 24 at Crown Station Pub in Charlotte!

Then I followed with a medley of my own, performing songs from the "Crown & Glory" album.  We also threw in a couple songs that weren't on the album like "Hound Dog" and "Assumptions."  My favorite song from the album is "Beautiful Mane."  So we did something special during this song.  I arranged with the bar to pour glasses of champagne and give them to everyone in the bar.  One of the lines in the song is "... raise a glass to beautiful...".  So I had them raise their glasses every time that line was sung.  The catch was that I didn't tell them what to do with their glasses.  I told them that their clue was in the song and they had to listen for it.  Some people got it the first time, but by the end of the song everyone in the room was raising their glass!  It was a lot of fun and very interactive.  Here is a video of me performing the song.  It's not from the album release show, but you can still see what I mean!

THE SKIRT:  I made it myself.  It's variations of bright green tulle!  I felt like a princess wearing it!  It took me a half day to make and cost about $40 for the materials.  It was super fun to wear and I got so many compliments!  I don't know when I'll ever get to wear this skirt again, but it is hanging up in my closet just waiting for another spin!

Look at that skirt!

THE VIP SECTION:  I wish I would have gotten pictures of the VIP Section.  It was amazing!  We rented cocktail tables and chairs and decorated with matching tablecloths, forks and napkins.  We served cake and had a very special VIP bag for all the VIPs.  The bag included a copy of the album, plus a special collectors edition of the album complete with a re-usable glass jar for home-made products, recipes, a t-shirt and free product samples.  We put the VIP tables right near the stage so they got a great view of all the festivities.

All in all, I'd say the show was a success.  We had about 50 friends join us to celebrate the release of the album.  They were all so very supportive.  We even had our Aunt from TX join us for the fun. I'm so glad she was able to come!

Special thanks to Robert Schultz, my more than supportive hubby for being there, for playing the drums so well, and for loving me!  Thanks to Martha for coming all the way from the big TX!  Thanks to Scratch Tracks Studio for all the hours spent tracking and engineering!  You're the bomb!  And thanks a million times to my friends and fans for coming and for supporting this journey with me.
